RE: Appointment Reminder Service - ReminderCall.com - Reviews?
@IRJ said in Appointment Reminder Service - ReminderCall.com - Reviews?:
Wow their social media person is terrible.
I can tell they are using a service to create those posts, but they are using it wrong. The service that they are using takes the top rated posts from around facebook and shares them to their page. It's a good idea, but you must be careful to only use posts relevant to your field which they obviously aren't doing.
Another downfall is that they are keeping posts up with zero likes or shares. This is a social media no no. Sometimes posts don't work out, but you need to delete those to elevate your posts that do work. Soon or later you will have a good idea what works and doesn't work.
Yea, it really makes me doubt their "tech cred" and makes me uneasy in giving them our business

Appointment Reminder Service - ReminderCall.com - Reviews?
Hello everyone. Has anyone ever used this product before? Can anyone provide me with any relevant information regarding this company? Their pricing is very reasonable, but their online presence is minimal and their facebook page is a little iffy. They claim to have a 99.8 - 99.9% uptime, which is very good if true.
http://www.remindercall.com/
https://www.facebook.com/Remindercall/I think this is their backend provider, so obviously a biased article

RE: Paying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10
@anthonyh said in Paying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10:
@Brains Is the delay a big deal? Windows 7 EOL is 1/14/2020. So in theory you have 3-4 years until one must upgrade. I'm not sure time is an issue.
Businesses love to wait 4 years before they have to spend money instead of spending it now (or at all if the free upgrade was chosen)

As a last thought on this.
Lets look at this from a cost perspective. If you have 10 computers, all running windows 7, and you now need to purchase upgrade licenses for those machines, it'll cost $199 per (or $1990).
What would it cost to upgrade to the newest version of your application? Would it cost more or less? My guess would be more (than updating ever user environment), all while providing you the most current up to date software and operating system platform at minimal cost (the cost of the application upgrade fee)
also delaying the next OS upgrade by 3 years at least, if not 5

@Brains We have one application that just won't die that we do this for. We finally put money in this year's budget (FY starts July 1 for us) to have the software re-written. I will be so happy when it's replaced!
The pain of old software is real bruh. Lucky for me we are already phasing out the 20yr old IBM AIX 4.3 server and software (i have the source code and am NOT going to try to deal with that ludicrous display of "programming"). Our new PMS/EHR is running on a nice new server and everything is Win10 compatible.

we are running VMs for all the old XP applications that a handful of users need to run. It works pretty good for us

Our Tampa office git stuck in the middle of the takeover and was down not for 4 hours, but 4 DAYS! Yep DAYS!. Now the billing issues have started as we had a special deal on our FiOS circuit that did not carry over.
I've had T1 customers in Rochester down for over six months. Four days isn't even a blip.
How was it offline that long? I know the fcc regulations have some wiggle room, I didnt know they had that much.
FCC does very little with T1s, especially in areas that are not regulated.

I thought T1s had some guarantee where they had to begin working on the problem within 24-48 hours? I may be misremembering specifics
T1 is just a WAN connection. The SLA with a T1 is contractual and has nothing to do with regulations. Also, an SLA is what protects the vendor and keeps them from unlimited liability. An SLA that says that they "have to start work" in 24 hours only means that they have to pay whatever stipulated penalty there is. If that penalty is, say, $5 but the line makes $500 profit and it would cost $200 to fix, the SLA makes it make sense to leave the line broken as the penalty isn't enough to justify fixing it, but forces the customer to be unable to turn it off.
Wow I didnt know that (Never really had to deal with that side before). Thanks for the clarification Spiceworks Jesus!

I got up at 7:30 am in Dallas, drove all day and arrived in Indianapolis at 3:00 am. Doing some catch up before turning in. I'm visiting @scale tomorrow here in town, trying to be there in about six hours, but seven is more likely.
Dang Jesus. You should stop by and visit next time you are in town. At least grab a good German Beer with me!
Better come over to my place to get some real German beer
Oh im up for that! There is a German Biergarten near my house that is ran by an Austrian. He has lots of on tap imports. Spaten, Wasteiner, Franziskaner, Stella Artois, etc. Fresh made strudel daily and pork schnitzel (im ok with it not being veal). But if you want to buy me a plane ticket to come visit, I would be glad to come and drink all your beer
