This would probably be too much work to set up in a hurry, but ZT on End Users's personal device, and End Users's Company Machine.

But as @JaredBusch said, if you already have a VPN infrastructure, it'd be easiest to use that.

ZT is a good solution but I would need to look at ways to restrict it to port 3389 afterward.

Are you familiar with ZeroTier Flow Rules? I wonder if that's a way to restrict to port 3389?

      Alright, it worked pretty well.

Had some minor tearing issues with video. It disappeared when I changed setting in nvidia panel from Nvidia Performance to Nvidia On Demand. I'm not sure what this does. The laptop has GTX 1050 4GB RAM.

My goto video for checking tearing is Taylor Swift's - Look What You Made Me Do. Lots of fast screen changes.

Also had some problems with display rotation. Ubuntu thought that the laptop was standing sideways but it wasn't. So the display was rotated 90 degrees. Very irritating. Solved by sudo apt-get remove iio-sensor-proxy

There was away to lock the rotation but don't remember where it was at.

Technically the only thing I can think of is maybe the format is wrong on how I executing the commands. It's an EXT4 as far as I'm aware since I used thin provisioning. Which I'm moving away from it's too much of a pain in the ass.

Starting with XCP-ng 8.1, Ext4 is the default EXT filesystem for local SR unless you manually configured the previous version to use Ext4 then you should be using Ext3.

@EddieJennings What is your us case for VEPA?

I don’t have one in particular. I was curious to know what VEPA was.

Why on earth would you want to add hopes to inter-VM communication?

Not to mention dramatically reducing the vailable bandwidth between two virtual machines.

Personally, I wouldn’t (hops, I assume). Perhaps there some use case where you want to mirror the traffic of the port on the external switch to another port and use this mirroring for some kind of traffic monitoring. I’d like to think there would be some reason for this to be a thing, otherwise it would like the development of it was time wasted.

Just a FYI, if you want to see VMs network interface stats you can use virsh domifstat. Here's an example.

watch -n1 "sudo virsh domifstat --domain popos --interface vnet0"

    • RE: Configuring network settings for Proxmox installs

Take a look at the network configuration section of PVE Docs.
      https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-sysadmin.html#sysadmin_network_configuration

You can either make changes via the Web GUI or modify /etc/network/interfaces file directly. They do prefer users to use the Web GUI because when you modify the networking configuration from the GUI it will temporary creates a /etc/network/interfaces.new file to help you double check your new setup before you reboot to apply the new changes.

Setting up DHCP Linux bridge will require you to modify the interfaces file directly.
BE WARNED, I have not confirm if this works correctly for the DHCP setup.

      DHCP setup with Linux bridge

      auto lo
      iface lo inet loopback

      iface eno1 inet dhcp

      auto vmbr0
      iface vmbr0 inet dhcp
              bridge_ports eno1
              bridge_stp off
              bridge_fd 0

And with default static Linux bridge setup you can do that either by GUI or directly.

      Static setup with Linux bridge

      auto lo
      iface lo inet loopback

      iface eno1 inet manual

      auto vmbr0
      iface vmbr0 inet static
              address 192.168.1.93
              netmask 255.255.255.0
              gateway 192.168.1.1
              bridge_ports eno1
              bridge_stp off
              bridge_fd 0

Also you will need to make sure /etc/resolv.conf is configured correctly, either by using GUI or directly.

      search example.com
      nameserver 192.168.1.1
      nameserver 1.1.1.1
      nameserver 8.8.8.8
