      Here's what I've gotten to...

Same-security-traffic permit intra-interface has been run on the ASA.

Nat (inside, inside) source dynamic Inside_Subnet interface destination static Inside_HTTP_Public Inside_HTTP-Server

I got that from this site

I can't tell if inside_Subnet is just an object (I think it is). But if that object is an object for the inside LAN... if that's the case, why an inside interface can't be specified.

@scottalanmiller said in the benefits for a small company that wants to use a virtual server:

Here are two articles that you should reference:

      https://www.smbitjournal.com/2015/04/virtualizing-even-a-single-server/
      https://www.smbitjournal.com/2012/11/virtualization-as-a-standard-pattern/

I like that you pointed out consolidation in your journal, as a bonus. I've referenced that a few times with clients where we are discussing consolidation more as a cost benefit. Administration benefits, sure, but the cost is the big thing to me. There is an absolute ton of money to be saved by virtualizing everything. Looking at the cost of a recent 3 host set up with around 120 servers (VSAN and DR factored in), we saved hundreds of thousands by virtualizing.

But that's moreso down the list after many of the other more important benefits such as flexibility, stability, recovery, etc.

what firmware version do your UAPs have now?

Not sure off the top of my head. I looked earlier though; they are 1 or 2 minor releases behind.

Assuming you haven't updated the controller software yet, look it up and post if you remember.

      AP versions are on 3.8.15.6784

      Windows controller is 5.5.24

Ouch.. that is kinda old. might be worth a search to see if iDevices have a known issue with that firmware or curiosity sake.

I had been searching online for a couple days. Nothing glaring on any forums that I had looked through.

      https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless/WiFi-connection-to-iOS-devices-issue/td-p/1856584
      https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless/iOS-11-and-connection-troubles/td-p/2079248

I hadn't saw the first one since it's on a different version (I had only looked for the version they are on), but definitely still relevant. The second article is right on.

I'm surprised they hadn't had issues sooner. The version is from October, and that article is during that time. Looks like the version immediately started showing signs of issue. They went about 3 months without any signs. Who actually knows when the APs upgraded though. Maintenance window is tonight and weekly scheduled visit is tomorrow. Everything will be up to date soon enough.

Did you read the release notes? They stated that the database migration will be long.

It wasn't as long as I expected. The controller starting took longer than expected though.

Firmware can update on it's own outside of the controller version being updated.

If the Controller is set to auto upgrade UAPs, that could explain why this happened considering you haven't updated the firmware on your own.

Discovered the APs aren't running the most up to date software, if it had updated. 'Upgrade' button is missing on the controller, for each AP. Guessing I'll have to get the controller software updated first.

Always the best thing to do.

Upgraded mine tonight. UniFi 5.6.29 is current and the firmware on my UAPs is 3.9.19.8123 now.

Got the controller up to date now. EOL notice for UAP-AC-V2 popped up for both APs, as expected. Upgrade button still absent. Digging further shows there is no firmware update available for this old of a device. That's what I love to see. Time for an upgrade.

The fundamental issue is that the entire Exchange / Outlook ecosystem is garbage.

The thing is we use (traditional users) emails for everything, even sending files .

Why not use email for email and a transfer system for sending files (NextCloud, SFTP, SharePoint, Huddle, etc). Using a system out of its intended use can cause unnecessary congestion.

hehe the wisdom always seems strong when your frustrated.

Just repeating the same things that I say normally. I avoid Exchange for a reason. I have to use Exchange for NTG, and Zimbra for DCH and Zimbra is so much better.

Zimbra has a local client too, doesn't it?

It does, but it is crap.

Are you using the web client then?

Wondering about features between web and local. After using Outlook local client for shared mailboxes, shared calendars, quick steps, etc... The web version of Outlook is almost unusable.

      It also still uses Java.

Lol that doesn't need work, that needs a re-write.

Actually, it looks like it is autodiscover. Autodiscover passed by running a connectivity test externally. But after installing a Microsoft analyzer on the user's workstation, it failed and said that https://companywebsite.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is interfering. No idea currently who is hosting their company site (already checked their registrar). I'll have to talk to their marketing individual tomorrow.

Resolved. HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Office > 15.0 > Outlook > Autodiscover . Within Autodiscover add a DWORD (32 bit Value) with the name ExcludeHttpsRootDomain and set the value to 1.

Haven't read the new ones yet. I put stuff in public space for any community to read. It's not derogatory to a community or anyone specifically. I cross reference forums every so often. I've also pointed out stuff in other forums about MangoLassi.

The link is strictly an example of what can be irritating as a question, as I had pointed out in that thread as well (probing for lots more info). But, I'll unlink the thread as a courtesy then.

    • ESXi single host rebuild / VM restore

There's a few ways to accomplish rebuilding a single host. Just seeing what other people have tried as I've gone down to just one option in the last few years.

Where a client has 1 ESXi host and requires a RAID expansion, I've backed things up one last time, exported OVF templates, made copies of all other datastore items on a NAS, rebuilt the array, imported OVF templates, and copied all other datastore items back.

Obviously can't just restore with Veeam since the virtual management server using Veeam would be blown away.

Anyone doing something that is a bit easier and a little more automated on such a small scale?

Which piece of ConnectWise? ConnectWise has a bunch of "formerly known as" products under their umbrella. LabTech, ScreenConnect, and Manage to name a few.

Their helpdesk specifically was unusable. And that's a pretty important piece, the part we need to work to know to use the rest of it.

they didn't know what they were doing with it.

If they screw up alot, follow them around to their clients. Easy pickins. 😄

Fun fact after researching... it is indeed intended to grab contacts-calendars-mail, but will not grab local distribution groups if you've created them in the local Outlook client. I think they are technically stored in a separate file, but for whatever reason it is not included in the migration.
