How does everyone handle PBX updates for multiple installations/clients? For example, with FreePBX, updates come out nearly all the time. With many clients, how do you handle the updates? It can be time consuming to log into each client's GUI, check for updates, run them, and restart the services. Is there a better, automated way, or do you just update on a schedule?

RE: Microsoft Planner
It looks pretty simple after I watched their video on it. Once I get it I plan on digging into it and will post updates here.

RE: I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours, Home Labs
And so Begins the new lab setup. Picked this rack up but it's too shallow for my Dell rails. I'm either going to keep the posts as they are and lengthen the depth, or just use the posts and create some sort of hybrid metal/ wood rack. Any excuse to break out the welder and power tools.

RE: Centralized password manager
@Breffni-Potter What is the name of the tool? Or is this something developed in house?

RE: Microsoft Planner
@Minion-Queen From the looks of it, it looks similar to the way Visual Studio Online operates with their "Sprints." I'm definitely going to give it a try, as I always have a ton of different tasks related to many different projects, but not a great way to visualize it in a way I like.

Microsoft Planner
Just received an email about this since I'm on an eligible 365 plan. They are rolling this out in the next few weeks to all users with an Office 365 Enterprise E1–E5, Business Essentials, Premium and Education subscription plan. I've been looking around for a decent online project management tool that can organize tasks into groups or projects, and then assign those tasks to users or groups as well. Basically a really dumbed down version of MS Project. This fits the bill, and is included with an eligible 365 plan. Win/Win.
Thoughts?

RE: Centralized password manager
We currently use a password protected OneNote doc hosted on SharePoint. However, it is far too easy to easily delete an entry when you are copying the passwords out of the document. Our senior techs are very careful, but I'm concerned about new staff, etc accidentally deleting passwords.
@scottalanmiller , How are you liking the SharePoint Wiki for passwords? Deleting entries is a non issue since it is a webpage.

RE: What You Need to Know About XenServer
This was posted at the perfect time, since I'm planning on putting Xenserver on my new box for my home network. Thanks!

RE: Media Player Box
I've been debating which one to get for myself as well. I currently run the old Boxee box downstairs, and run Netflix on our old Wii upstairs. I'm past due for an upgrade and I've been looking at the Roku 4 device. That one does 4K if you really need it and is around your price point.

e basement. It was a large alcove large enough for a few racks and we had it walled off with three sides concrete blocks against the ground so it stayed very cool, the other side was a wall with a six foot wide window looking it, and a door with its own lock.
Screenshot or it didn't happen.
That sounds awesome!

RE: Home project - Media server & Lab
So either I luck out and it's "not that bad", or I have some sort of ventilation. I considered putting something in my garage as well, but the temps here in Pennsylvania vary too much during the year and the humidity would be horrendous during the summer.
Do we have a thread on here with pics of other peoples home setup?

Are you going to air condition the closet?
not initially. I'm going to see how it goes in regards to temp first and then adjust if I need to. The closet is in my finished basement which is below ground, so it is normally a constant, cool temperature.

I thought of that option, but I also have my other networking gear that I want to put in there as well, as well as my gaming rig which is currently on the other side of the wall in my office. I'm thinking about relocating that to inside the closet in the aforementioned rack and running the usb/video cables through the wall. (less than 3 feet)
See how I am trying to justify a rack in my head?
I've totally considered putting a gaming rig onto a rack in a closet and playing from the other side of the wall!
The fans in the rig are just too loud, so why not get the entire thing out of my office!

You could get a quarter rack or quarter cab with castors. Makes it easier to justify and way easier to move around. Get a nice cab and it limits noise too, but make sure that it doesn't overheat.
I might do that. Time to scour craigslist.

RE: Home project - Media server & Lab
Now I just need to either build or find a rack to put in the closet under my staircase. I have access to a shorter 23" deep rack that I could probably make work with some shorter rails.

RE: Home project - Media server & Lab
So with a personal budget of about $400 for this, I think this is a decent option.
Dell R710It has the H700 RAID card in it, so it will accept my WD 2-3 TB drives that I plan to put in it.
Opinions? I can find this server cheaper, but it either doesnt have the drive trays, or it has a Perc 6i, which wouldn't work for the large drives.
