Vultr Fedora Image
Does anyone use the Vultr Fedora image for new installs, or do you use your own ISO? Looking to finally get around to putting a Salt master in the cloud vs my lab.

Another thing that I can’t understand is why Freepbx hasn’t addressed its issues with roaming mobile app access.
Other than Zulu, you mean? Or does Zulu not do what you want? It's not free, so it's lacking something that I want.
Configuring a soft phone like Bria from your mobile device results in the responsive firewall banning your connections as you traserve cellular/WiFi networks.
I have less problems with the Firewall and more with the Intrusion Detection module.
This is still an issue for me as well. Do we have any good solutions for mobile users who want softphone access?

RE: MTR and Edge Router
Spoke too soon. Seems to be an issue with WinMTR. Running it from CLI on a CentOS box, works like a charm. Go figure.

Level 1 Basic Training -Network fundamentals
For someone just starting out in level 1 helpdesk, where would be a great place for them to get started on BASIC networking fundamentals?
I've personally used PluralSight in the past. They are still $29/user at the moment (their site says this will increase shortly)
I've also briefly looked at Cybrary. These guys appear to be free but I have no experience with them. https://www.cybrary.it/course/comptia-network-plus/The level of training I am looking for is for someone who has zero IT experience, but wants to start a career in support/helpdesk. (Not bench)
Any recommendations would be helpful.

That's great. Never heard of Messer, but the videos look pretty good. Any specific recommendations on a lab setup for them?
Get them an EdgeRouter lite and a single unifi AP, have them configure to start with.
@Dashrender did that with me when I was first starting to learn it.If they have a test environment available, also have them install and configure VyOS. Having to work from a command line teaches me much better than using a guide at least.
These are L0, manual firewall config skills are not even close to being in their range.
Agreed. Need something VERY basic. I'll start with the Messer videos and setup some sort of basic lab. Perhaps just a switch, and a cheap router with a GUI, so they can get the basic concepts and see them in action.

Installing a salt minion on FreePBX
Has anyone installed a salt minion on FreePBX 14? I'm setting up a FreePBX14 box in my lab and cannot use the process:
cd /tmp; curl -L https://bootstrap.saltstack.com -o install_salt.sh sh install_salt.sh
When I try to install it, I get the errors below.
Failed dependencies: epel-release is obsoleted by (installed) sangoma-release-7-5.1805.02.el7.sangoma.x86_64 Retrieving https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm * ERROR: Failed to run install_red_hat_linux_stable_deps()!!!
I attempted to add the Saltstack repo, but I am still getting the error above, so obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone done this successfully?

@fuznutz04 I have not. But as you are seeing, FreePBX 14 and newer are not CentOS anymore. They are Sangoma OS.
I am sure some manual setup would work as most things seemt to be ported, but no idea.
The only extra thing I have added to FreePBX is ZeroTier.
Good point. I will post some notes as to how well this works out. I was at least able to install it successfully.

Backup server - Software layout
Technical sounding board requested.....
So I have a server that will have 10 TB of usable space on it that can be used as a backup server. This will be a backup target for Veeam to backup a few VMs from a Hyper-V host. My initial plan was to install Hyper-V server on the backup server, and then create a large VM for Veeam. That way, I can utilize the backup server as a backup target, but it could also act as a secondary Hyper-V host in case something goes wrong with the main host.
The other option could be to just install something like Fedora, on the backup server directly (no Hyper-V) and have it be simply a storage target.
Thoughts?

Using Hyper-V like that is often the best way to go with Veeam.
Great. Just wanted to bounce that off of someone else.

I was just looking into this as well. I use 1password at the moment, and have only 1 issue, and that is that they don't have a linux app available. Bitwarden looks pretty good. I've also seen good reviews on Dashlane, but I don't have personal experience with them.

RE: Veeam to require contract for updates next month
That sucks. I hope the free version is not going away. I use that for my labs.

Oh, and RDP I RDP from my MDP all the time now to Windows boxes. What is a good app for that on the Linux side?
Reminna
Excellent. And what about the times where I would want to remote into my Fedora Desktop? What RDP style app is best for that?
If you mean connecting TO your laptop, I would suggest an XRD + X11VNC setup. I tested it with Linux Min 19, and it worked well enough. That setup might work on other linux distros.
Yep, that is what I mean. I'll take a look.

Postfix having trouble sending to IPv6
On a PBX instance, (FreePBX), I've noticed that the system does not send emails to a specific domain. The domain resolves to an IPv6 address.
Sep 25 06:49:59 2059 postfix/smtp[7650]: connect to mx1.somedomain.com[2001:1af8: 40e0:a00c:9::2]:25: Network is unreachable
Checking in nano /etc/postfix/main.cf, I found that postfix is set to use both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. (inet_protocols = all) However, I then changed it to inet_protocols = ipv4, and reloaded Postfix.
Now it resolves to an IPv4 address, and it sends the mail as it should.
Is there any reason why having inet_protocols set to all (this is the default) would cause this?
Anyone else have this issue?

That would indicate that IPv6 isn't supported.
Not supported on PostFix itself, or in the actual server network config?
Just taking a guess, I would say via the networking.
So I will try this with both IPv4 AND IPv6 listed and see what happens. Specifying IPv4 only works, but I will try both.
Thanks guys.
The point here is does your server have routable IPv6 available to it?
The postfix instance seems to have IPv6 enable.
Your DNS seems to return IPv6 information.
:question_mark: Does your router have IPv6 enabled?
:question_mark: Does your ISP support IPv6?
This server is a Vultr box. Not using the Vultr Firewall. I just noticed in the Vultr manage page, that IPv6 is available, but no subnet has been assigned. That will do it!

RE: Vultr, Windows & Data center licensing
@scottalanmiller Right. So being legit in this scenario, would be so cost prohibitive, it's not possible realistically.

Zerotier issues this morning?
Is anyone else having ZT issues today? Dropped pings, bad connections, etc?
