I was just told it will be homemade pizza tomorrow
If the pizza ain't from NY, it won't be as good...our water makes our pizza so amazing...one reason no one else in the country can measure up to true NY pizza.
Ever had a REAL Italian pizza?
In Italy, yes. And in France, Germany, Romania, Chicago, NYC, Texas, Canada, etc.
Nothing compares to NY's Mohawk Valley. Even in the Alba region doesn't compete.
I'd dare say all of Central NY, or even Upstate NY. It's all pretty damn good everywhere you go.

The real NY style places down here actually import NY water for their dough. My neighbors are from Long Island, they found this out from living here 10+ years.
Ok guys, we will have a pizza when I finally made it to NY someday
Come over for Mangcon, dammit!!!
Way too expensive, already calculated it and it will be like 5.000 EUR at least (1:0.9 EUR USD). Flight alone is $800 one way.

Rochester is okay, but nothing super special. You want to get to the stretch between Utica and Albany for the very best pizza.
Syracuse is just as good. Trust me on that.

I grew up near Buffalo and we definitely have good pizza, on par with NYC. But only on par. Different style, though. But year, all of Upstate is good, but that one stretch a few hours from here really stands out. That the cheese originates from near there (Waverly) does a lot to help.

Best convenient one that I know is Big Willy's in Frankfort, that would be a few hours. Best close to the conference would be doable on Saturday for the Letchworth outing. Papa Roni's and Mama Mia's (no connection, names are coincidence) are the two best in the area. Papa Roni's is the best Buffalo style that I know anywhere and Mama Mia's is the best NYC style in the local area.
-
As I was typing that, my wife said "What's for dinner, pizza?" ha ha. Papa Roni's it is!

If you figure $1600 EUR for the flight, where does the other $3400 come from? Conference is very cheap, food and drinks are mostly included. Hotel isn't expensive.

Well the answer there is obvious

Ye Ole Pizza Pub in Oneida was a staple of my childhood. They encouraged you to carve your name into the tables. There were thousands of names in those tables. They had a GIANT projector screen and played movies all the time to keep the kids occupied. Great pizza, good price, really nice people who owned it, and I believe still do. Check them out! It's only a couple blocks from the house I came home to after being born!
403 Lenox Ave, Oneida, NY 13421

Best I've ever come across was a bowling alley in Schenectady.
-
And Rotterdam Junction for the best mozzarella sticks ever.. raspberry jam instead of marinara sauce.

@scottalanmiller The dosa which is given a outlayer with the chocolate is used
