MangoCon Is official!
-
For those who want to stay a few days after the event, I'd be okay with organizing a two day trip into wine country or something. Would be unofficial but the NY wine country would be a great way to relax after the conference if a handful of people wanted to do that on like Monday and Tuesday.

I'll be driving back and forth. I'm super excited to be there!
-
@scottalanmiller sounds fun! I may have to take a couple days vacation and stay

Saturday the 17th we will do a poll on either Niagara Falls or Letchworth... Really up to all of you what you would rather see.

There are three amazing wine trails very nearby. It's one of the highlights of New York State.
-
For those interested, it is the New York Finger Lakes Wine District and the Cayuga, Seneca and Keuka Wine Trails.

I can't select dates in Sept 2016 on their site, but a quick search shows about $450 round trip, multiple stops (a deal breaker for me). I might just drive over 2 days, even friggin Amtrak costs $500.
I've actually done Rochester to Atlanta a few times (NTG is based in Rochester, oldest client is in the Atlanta metro) and we did a race once and by car was faster than the flight once you included the rides at either end, the security wait time, etc. Atltanta to Rochester really isn't bad, especially if you make it a car pool road trip.
Whats a good halfway town to stop in for the night? Maybe Lexington? I'm seeing multiple driving routes, but one goes across the middle of nowhere (W VA, etc)
Coming from Atlanta to Lexington Kentucky is about 6ish hours,.. And where I will be starting from.

Letchworth in September could be pretty, depending on how much the leaves have turned. I'd bet Niagara Falls will win though...
-
You might be surprised, LSP is so much more low key and different.
-
Spouses and families get upset when people come back with "I visited Niagara Falls" but "We went to a state park" you can downplay a bit more.
-
And I guarantee that every NYer will vote for LSP.
-
So excited about this!

I haven't been to Letchworth in probably 15 years. But Grand Canyon of the East and NY in the fall? Hellz yeah!
-
looks like around 450 round trip from down here.
-
@scottalanmiller @RojoLoco anyone who is passing through the Cleveland area, or any other part of NE Ohio, we can totally setup a carpool! It's only like a 3 and a half hour drive. Keep in mind though, we will be stopping in Buffalo at Paula's Doughnuts, on the way. So it may turn into a 4 hour excursion. Also tack on extra time for any other random shenanigans we may end up in...
-
@hubtechagain That's not too bad for me to get to Austin and back is about $550 from here.
-
Looks like I will be coming in from Quebec City.

Some questions:
-
What is the time frame on an agenda?
-
Are you looking for people to run sessions, and if so what is necessary to be considered?
-
What are the benefits for teaching (other than LI bling)?

It's being discussed and a few topics are in rough outline now. So details will be starting to emerge over the next month or two. I know that two speakers are lined up and a third is being spoken to that I know about.
