Crowdfund Thread

^ Meme from The Illusionist?
That crowd-fund page needs a lot of work, too many holes in the idea.

Well hopefully they will take some feedback and work on that. It might get better.
Would be great if we figured out their exactly location. I've been all over the region this morning. For all you know they are minutes away.

This thread makes me want to visit Europe, specifically Spain. Sounds like its decent if you know where to go.

Spain is truly an amazing country. And gorgeous. Here are more than a thousand pictures of the last month here.

Beautiful. It looks similar to some areas of Italy. I am sure visiting Spain is lower cost than visiting Italy.

Both are cheap, but yes Spain is cheaper. My favourite region of Italy, Piemonte, is not expensive at all. But my time in Italy is mostly north (expensive) and in Spain is mostly south (cheap.) If you did the opposite I think you would find Italy cheaper. Both countries have big, rich cities and generally rich norths and general poorer souths. Spain's Andalucia (where I live) is super low cost. But Italy has Sicily which is super cheap.

Going to start a new thread. Sorry @Mike-Ralston

Have you looked at the one other fund-raiser by that person's profile?

We are working through options for these guys on a separate channel. Turns out, they are a full day's WALK away from me. I can nearly see them from where I live (there is a hill directly in the way.) They are "living" just a few minutes away from our large grocery store.

I wonder at the organizer really. I just read both this and the first. Seriously, WTF is this person thinking. Ignoring all the stuff that has been stated in this thread about reality, if you are going to try and fund something, you need to actually understand what you are funding and provide a write up that actually sells the project.

Yeah the funder has failed on many, many levels. Don't really know how she is involved.
-
@scottalanmiller It was rushed, I don't really know the process behind choosing the person to do it.

Just out of curiosity for us on the side-lines.
What happened in the end?
-
Good question, I have no heard either.

Last that I knew they were looking into turning them from "homeless" into "travelers." In the US this would not make any sense but in Europe someone of their age traveling around doing odd jobs seeing the world is completely normal and expected. I had friends doing exactly this living with us here for the last three weeks.
So we coached them (in the thread) on how to find this kind of work and what to do to earn enough to eat and find a place to sleep. Hopefully that worked out for them. They were going to scrape together money for bus fare (or honestly I can just go pick them up and take them somewhere) to get to a workaway program to get them started.
My houseguests just scored working as a maid and pool boy (there are two of them, that's not one person flipping roles) in a mansion on the French Riviera for a month as they work their way to Italy.

@Breffni-Potter Actually only just this morning, Eloy has managed to get a job, and his significant other has gotten a place to stay, until they can afford to get an apartment or some such thing.

Great. A real job where they make money, not just a food and board kind of job?
-
@scottalanmiller Yes, an actual job. I'm a little out of the loop of communication, but it sounds like he's working for a restaurant.

That's probably over 50% of the jobs that exist in Motril. I have connects now with people who work down there. One of my drinking buddies is a big time politician in the area and works on the beach during the day.
