WordPress 4.2 Is Out
-
That's about all that there is to say. Go update your Wordpress and check out the new features.

eWeek appears to be a little behind as 4.2 already eclipsed 4.1.2.
-
yup, all updated!

Not exactly. My installs auto updated to 4.1.2 after 4.2 was out. Not to 4.2. So that is a perfectly valid article.
Fault, if any would be on WordPress.

That's odd. So your auto updated to 4.1.2 but did not go to 4.2 but prompted that you should go to 4.2?

Yes. None of my sites auto updated to 4.2

I think wordpress auto patches minor versions but not major revisions, for fear of breaking sites.
-
That makes sense. Normally, though, 4.2 would be a minor version and 5.0 would be a major. It must be "patch" releases are automatic and majors and minors are not.
-
Be sure to patch!

Yeah, Faildesk got compromised late last week and Dreamhost killed it on Saturday. Had to restore from backup and didn't get to the WP update until today. Had various files in my wp-content and main site directories this AM. Annoying.
Here's hoping the new release will stop the shenanigans.

That's one thing that I dislike about WordPress, the security is horrible. The whole design makes it incredibly easy to compromise.
