2017 is the big year.... women have passed men in the viewership of porn.

            Where did you read that?

Pornhup announced it. They collect the most complete porn related statistics of any company.

I wonder if it is snowflakes "identifying" as women? Pornhub just doesn't want to offend.

While pretty much all porn viewing info is pretty anecdotal, even a behemoth like PornHub has limited ability to collect data; this is not surprising to me or any women that I mentioned it to (which isn't many) and reflects what I've seen in the public space. The idea that women use literary porn has become well known and that they use it at rates that men wouldn't dream of means that there is a trend towards this already. Make it acceptable and accessible for women to access traditional porn without stigma and existing trends can easily lead to them being the obvious, larger consumers of the media.

Excellent point, well thought sir. I have never looked at the data on the "Romance Novel" industry. I do remember going to book stores as a child and taking note that the romance novel section tended to have the greatest number of books. It makes sense that as taboo becomes socially acceptable that the consumer base would trend in that direction.

50 Shades really did a few things. One was made everyone aware what those novels were. Suddenly it was "holy cow, everyone's mom is reading porn right in the living room all these years!" and it was "well, everyone got exposed at once, might as well just be public about it." Now, oddly, women in public talk to each other about how they read porn as their entertainment. Ten years ago, you'd never ever hear that (but you'd see if it you know what it was.) But today, it's totally normal and accepted for you to overhear women of all ages discussing the porn that they read.

@scottalanmiller Fascinating topic that leads in many directions. So many questions. But, "Mom reading porn", is where I must step off. :face_vomiting:

But seriously, thank you Scott for engaging me in the conversation.
