@mlnews Good maybe AMD cards will actually be in stock in the near future.
All the other currencies are taking off, though
I'm mining Litecoin in my web browser on like 5 computers... After a week, I'm up $3 bucks, lol.
I wonder how much power that has used?
Probably $4, lol. I'll see if my KW/h usage goes up when I get the bill at the end of the month.
You're probably better off buying a popular WordPress plugin and having it use the CPU of web visitors visiting sites using the plugin. Lol I seen a WordPress blog of that.
First I'd have to have a website that people would want to visit, lol.

What software / plugin are you using? I might as well give it a try, my electric costs have finally dropped off after summertime (gas heat ftw).

CoinPot.co Get set up and then pick one of the crypto coins to mine and turn it loose. You will likely have to disable uBlock on the mining page since uBlock got smart and blocks that by default now, lol.

Seems like browser mining must be very CPU inefficient compared to alternatives.

Yeah. But I also don't have to worry about installing the software, updating the software and all that jazz. The miners that I found for Windows were slower than the Web page I'm using, lol.

Well in theory web pages can access CUDA. Maybe it has some good code. Chrome?

Yeah, is running in Chrome, but it's not using my GPU. Hmm... Maybe if I tell it to run on the NVIDIA Adapter... Food for thought, ha ha.

Yeah, if it isn't using the GPU, it seems like it must be super slow.

I'll cash it out today and see how much it's actually making me. I've been piddling with it since the beginning of November and I'm up to $3 and change. Not to shabby for not having to do anything but keep a web page open.

Looks like all sorts of scripts are around that do this, going to do some experimenting with it myself. Not that I expect to keep it running myself, but if other people want to run it for me, well, I wouldn't argue.

Well, if you don't give me a link to the web page to have my computer sit at, I can't very well help ya out now can I.

You all should use extra computing cycles on BOINC for science instead of making fake, soon-to-be-illegal-or-taxed-at-ridiculous-rates money. Ive been doing this since 1998 when I got my first laptop for university.

Or I could mine free digital money and get out before it collapses.
N.B. - telling certain people what they "should do" can be very dangerous to your health. Careful with that statement.
-
You cant really make money doing this unless you have a farm of gpus to do this stuff with. 2 ati/NVidia somethings aren't going to do squat by the time this is regulated to worthlessness.
Especially if you live somewhere where power is more than 8c/kwh. -

Taxing a currency is a weird thing to do. Doesn't really work.
