In japan that would usually be because someone stepped in front of a train ahead of you and they are still cleaning up the mess.

I do not even know how that myth got started (never bothered to research).
The Ag industry was one of the biggest opponents to the original implementation in the US around WW1 era.

I was very much in favor of eliminating DST until I realized that's the part that I like best. It's non-DST that I dislike. I say let's stay at DST all year and let it stay light out later all the time!
