Fun story;
I was chatting with a friend at the bar when a lady walked up with a slinky black dress and red leather boots on. She looked at me and I remarked "Nice boots"
Moral of the story: boots sounds a lot like something else in a loud bar.

One for @Texkonc on the job hunting front:
-
@nadnerB that's a good one. It also gives me a great article idea. Why would hiring managers make their staff "sell them" themselves? Are we hiring techs or salespeople? Why rule out the engineers that aren't good salespeople? Isn't that rather foolish?

@scottalanmiller That would be true for any description of smell(s) tho, wouldn't it?

So the wind just knocked out power to a UPS that runs our phone system, a XS box, and our network switches.
Wonderful!

Kinda, sorta, maybe has a UPS.

The UPS has been in place for 7 years... and the unit warned us that the batteries were shot.
So being a 7 year old UPS, I say just replace the whole thing with a new one.
Management opts to spend for replacement batteries.
We install the new batteries, and it still complains the batteries are shot. "Oh well, lets see if it works" is what I'm told.

So I get an email about people not being aware that technology ages and needs to be replaced regularly, and I reply 15 minutes after receiving this email, about how tech needs to be refreshed regularly.
And 5 minutes after that the wind knocks out the power.
