Yep, that's what the 9mm is for. Doesn't do so well when your already too close. Also, props for a classic!

I have these in my Mossberg 590. Solid steel slug and then the petals expand and come off.

What is a slug like this used for?
Make it easier to clean up the mess after something gets shot with it?

It's good for hog hunting. The steel slug goes through brush easier and the petals make sure it's dead. I use them for home protection.
