You've got something spawning processes like crazy. Look for a long list of zombies, maybe.

You can see that you have TONS of processes sleeping. Use top to tell you what the list is, or ps.

@scottalanmiller Ayep. I found out it was Glances hung... but I never figured out why it was hung. Killed the process form another SSH session, and the load average dropped quickly.

I just find it funny because I'd never seen a load average above 8 or 9 before, lol.
