Yup, they are famous for that. They are normally retired US school buses in the CA countries (including Panama). They get painted and often decorated to make them easy to spot. They are super cheap and are used absolutely everywhere, in every town, between Mexico and Colombia. They are so common, it's nuts.

No idea why GenXers are always so proud of their shitty tech, that some of the the generation after may not have been inconvenienced by it....

You can keep your type writers. I'll use my PC by in the park and print it out later from a real device.

It's the generation after GenX that uses typewriters for fun. GenX had to use them, we didn't have printers yet when we were young. We know how ridiculously bad they are.
