Anyone using standing desks?

Someone at my office does. I kind of want one.

Me too looking for one; found this

It sounds like a good idea in theory but I am not sure I would really like it over the long haul

@ambarishrh Article has a couple good points—
- Standing is being treated as the new smoking
- Adjustable desks are good to allow one to sit when tired
Keep an eye on Lifehacker, they tend to have their short snippets on office space infrequently. Each has lots of options for making your workspace more productive.

I also liked the bit about they felt the more abstract work was better done sitting. Would be interesting to see a more scientific test done for longer than a week.

I would like to try it. Not sure whee it would fit into my collection of workspaces though.

I've been wanting to try it. There's a filing cabinet in my office that is the perfect height to use as a standing desk. I've persuaded my boss to go standing, which he's been doing for about a month now. The biggest thing that puts me off is that my co-workers would think I'm nuts. Either that, or they'd think I'm just copying my boss to suck up to him. Or probably both.
I'm really looking for a setup that allows me to spend half my time sitting and half standing, but that's difficult with two monitors.
-
Fog Creek was famous for having convertible desks so that people could switch back and forth all day.
-
We're going to have convertible sit/stand desks at our new facility; I'll post some pictures once we get settled in next month!
-
I am getting a new mount for my monitors that I can raise and lower easily so I might thing about a small stand for my keyboard mouse so I can change back and forth. Might be worth it.

We were on the verge of getting the Versa-Desks for that; a little chunky but might be worth looking into!
-
@MattKing nice. Look forward to feedback on those.
What kind of price are they?
-
@scottalanmiller Honestly I wasn't involved when we were looking at them; looks like Amazon has them for $275 on the small one.
Note: Called the Vari-Desk.

As long as you can switch between standing and sitting, it seems like a good idea to me. It's being in the same position for an entire workday, whether it be on your feet or on your bum, that causes problems.
-
At least on your feet you can shift around more.

I'm actually really pumped, I'll post some pictures of our new facility as well... I don't think they'd get the same appreciation on my Facebook haha.

What is the new facility?
