freeNAS: Tape backup option?

Researching some information on freeNAS and wonder if it has the ability to backup to tape.
Has anyone seen or done this?

Sure, use the tar command. That's what tar is for, for making direct backups to tape. It's only in the years since it was first made that people have used it for other things.

FreeNAS is just FreeBSD, do you have all the standard backup options.

I've not had to use many command line options over the recent years... so tar isn't is a tad foreign.

Tar would not be my way of handling it, I'd use whatever normal backup system you have going to take now. You can use Unitrends, BackupExec, Amanda or most anything to do this. What is your current backup system?

Hmm...
Oh well.. I might just stick an MS OS back on an old PE box and use NTbackup.. It's simple,.. but doable.
