Ok now go to the security settings of and add your outlook account
Tried going to the Administrators group and adding [email protected], which resolved to my local ajstringham user. Got this.
That's not what I asked you to do. Try adding it the account itself. Don't worry about the group as a whole yet.
Add it as a user on the computer?
no in the security settings
Joel, I already said that the user [email protected] resolves down to my local ajstringham account. They are one in the same.
not according to my experience and everything I am reading.
When I go type [email protected] into a box where you would type a username for adding them in security on a folder or drive or whatever, when I hit check now, it resolves to AJSTRINGHAM-PRO\ajstringham.

I am going to test on Windows 10. Give me 10 minutes
-
@Dashrender , that didn't fix it.

Works for me. I am able UNC to \IP\C$ even though my work PC is on the domain and that Windows 10 test PC is not.

Ok, if I do that and DON'T click check names, I can add [email protected] as itself.
-
Still doesn't take the credentials.
-
To be honest, it's not taking local admin credentials either. I'm starting to think there is something else at work here...

Are you getting access denied or invalid username/password?
-
To be honest, the files in question are on my NAS. I actually just transferred them from the NAS to the main workstation in question. Now I'm more just curious as to why authentication isn't working...

Invalid username/password.
Yes something is definitely off here. I was getting Access Denied until I gave [email protected] ownership.

Well that's good news. If you put it in the wrong password, do you get a different error?

I already added ownership with full control for that user to the entire drive.

for ajstringham or [email protected]?

[email protected]. Says it right there. LOL

If I deliberately type the wrong password, I get this:

that doesnt mean you gave that account ownership. That just means your are trying to authenticate yourself with that account
