Office 365 - for IMAP update for attached account
-
Does anyone know how to tell Office 365 to force a check of an attached account?
Also, it does not appear that when you delete an email from Office 365 for that attached account that it's deleting it from the source account. Is this configurable?

OK - I heard back from MS on this.
O365 will check your attached accounts once an hour while you are not logged into O365, and more frequently when you are (though they don't say how much more frequently).
Additionally, once an email is downloaded from an attached account O365 does not do any type of syncing of that email. i.e. if you delete it from the source account, if you move it to a folder, in either case O365 will not do those same things with it's copy. Also, if you delete/move the email in O365, that action will not be synced back to the source either.
This kinda makes connecting accounts pointless in my opinion. You still have to end up managing both systems.

@Dashrender that completely defeats the point of using IMAP for certain.

I agree, not really useful at all.
-
What's their reasoning for doing this?

My guess is that it is some combination of trying not to do anything damaging accidentally combined with just being a bit half assed about the IMAP connector.

@scottalanmiller agreed. Though I don't know how they could call it an IMAP connector if it's not syncing. They should just get rid of IMAP, though I suppose these days some mail services might not offer POP3 anymore.

Because IMAP is a protocol and does not imply syncing. Calling it anything but IMAP would be false. IMAP is just as correct when syncing as when not.
