Google Voice is apparently not being killed off
-
I received an email blast yesterday from Obihai stating that Google Voice is now officially supported. This is a change because. Google had previously announced that they were cutting support for XMPP access to the service. XMPP is how all the third party systems like the OBi devices and Asterisk were able to use Google Voice as a trunk.

Interesting.. maybe this will be a reason to look at my Google Voice account again that I haven't looked at in 4 years.

A surprising turn of events.

Very cool.

Oh, so maybe I can connect a PBX to my google voice soon? How do we connect in now? Hoping to make a PBX out of my raspberyPi somehow.

If it is Asterisk based, you have been able to connect to Google Voice via some 3rd party scripts for years.
Google is NOT adding SIP to anyone's knowledge.
