Netgear Insight Managed Switches

I am looking to replace some OLD Netgear switches and was looking at Ubiquity but they only have SFP+ ports on 48 port Edgemax's.
I decided to look at the Netgear Insight Managed switches which are manged through their cloud portal or app on PC or phone.
Looking at the specs between the GS728x/GS752x and the S3300, the seem comparable in abilities for what I need (which is not a much as others here).
Please correct me if I am wrong, it looks like they just stripped out the software from the switch and put it in the cloud/app to save on hardware costs. This could be one explanation for the lower cost.
If anyone here has one or had the chance to play with one, what were your thoughts?

Gen 2 Unifi switches have SFP+, Edgeswitch Lite have SFP+ too, and Edgeswitch 16 XG has 12 SFP+ ports.

Is your concern that you need 10Gb but they are only offered on the 48 ports? Or you want the 48 ports but only need 1G SFP?

I missed the Gen 2 Unifi as I was only looking at the Edgeswitch line - I will look into those

At this time I don't have a specific need for that many. Although, I could figure out how to use them :winking_face:

I want to buy one 24 port (VM Hosts (one with Veeam), NAS, and SSL-VPN) and one 48 port for PC's and printers.
So what I am looking for is a 24 port with minimum 2 10G SFP+ and a 48 port with two10G SFP+. All while trying to keep costs low (we are a SMB with about 50 users).
I saw the Netgear Insight managed and said WTH??? Why so cheap compared to others. I am not the networking guru so I figured someone with much more experience could pick out the big glaring issue that I may be missing.

If you want 24 port, then I think only Unifi Gen 2 has SFP+ https://switch.ui.com/gen2/
They do have just SFP+ switches, with 12 SFP+, both Edgemax and Unifi. -
@pmoncho Ah, I see. I have Extreme Networks Summit switches. They are definitely more than netgear. As others have mentioned, you can look at one of the 12-port SFP+ core type switches from Ubiquiti. For the price, that is a lot of throughput.

They do have just SFP+ switches, with 12 SFP+, both Edgemax and Unifi.The 24 port will be for the 3 VM host servers. I keep staring at those SFP+ switches but I don't think I can justify getting the existing two host servers 10G SFP+ cards (getting a new Dell R440 next week and debating putting in a 10G SFP+ card because they are only an extra $100) along with new with new switches.
I will check out the UI Gen2's - If anyone has an opinion on those, please shout out.

I don't know, I will check into that. I only have a three switches total so stacking is not that important to me.
As for the Netgear Insight managed devices, they do all pop up in the Insight app (cloud or mobile app), kinda like Unifi controller for Unifi devices.

It isn't just for management. In most cases, a stacking style will have much greater throughput between switches.

At one of my clients we installed SFP+ cards in a group of Hyper-V hosts a few years ago. It was worth the extra cost IMO.

You bring up a good point. I will look into that. I haven't stacked switches since I went from a two 16's to one 48 port swtich (PC's and Printers).
Q. I've seen the phrase "Virtual Stacking." What the heck is that? Or what situation would that cover. Would this be relevant to me if as my two switches will not be located in the same rack but about 6' apart?

For a new host, it is likely a smart choice. But you can always add it later.

For $100, yeah I'd just do it. Otherwise you're looking at 2-4 (or so) 1 Gb/s teamed connections....

Is there any switch (Unifi or Edge line) that is "stackable"? I don't think so.
