I have a macOS user who uses Excel and OWA (Outlook Web Access.) She wants to copy and paste a spreadsheet from Excel into an email. Other people on Windows do this without any issue. The file in the email should be a table in the email itself and be able to be edited by someone who receives it. But on the Mac when she does this, the table is actually a JPEG or PNG image, not a table.

I have determined that the issue is in Excel and not in the email. When you "copy" a set of cells from Excel you get an image in the clipboard.

We installed LibreOffice and determined that it does the same thing. So the issue appears to be macOS related, and not specific to any app on it.

Install a clipboard manager for macOS. Clipboard is usually multiformat and it's both the sender and the receiver is involved in the exchange. WIth a clipboard manager you can see what you have in the clipboard and what format it is available in.

I would guess that what you need to paste spreadsheet in an email is actually a html table.

              Got a clipboard manager suggestion?

No, sorry but unfortunately not. I have a distaste for all apple products so I avoid them, even if I did some OS9 development many moons ago.

Does copying from Excel to Word, then copy from Word to Mail help?

In Excel, use File > Save as web page, then attach the web page to your email message?

Clearly the great and powerful Apple has determined that this is the correct behavior when pasting. How dare you question their correctness!

Even just to Word doesn't work. It's an image.

Yeah, we found that process. That's a pretty huge "fail" process.
