Hi,
So I started a new job and they handed me an Ubuntu laptop, I was surprised by the balls of that company.
First 2 weeks I was shy and didn't want to change the OS cause I am new, and still seeing if they had any integration of some sort with the OS like with AD, but after while I was not performing, so I said let me be safe and use Windows 10.
The new position involved a lot of git and a lot of SSH, I tried my best to handle this with putty
kitty WinSCP, and they are good however they alter things and want SSH keys in their format, also GIT in Windows is a joke.So I was stalling again, I wanted to go with Ubuntu cause the majority runs Ubuntu there, I want simple one and all the new light versions like Xubuntu and Lubuntu installs a ton of shit. I didn't like it, reminds me of Windows 10 from OEM.
So Fedora LXQT spin, and bam now I am working and performing like a machine.
I think we should pin this post and write all the good stuff on how to make latest Fedora more Awesome.
ahm.. ahm .. i know longer use Fedora LXQT as my daily work driver, I found Xubuntu Core (a certain VPN provider only provides .deb packages) and count not be any more happier, things work more on Ubuntu and wanted something usable and minimal and I loved this core project, maintained by XFCE developer.
https://xubuntu.org/news/introducing-xubuntu-core/
https://unit193.net/xubuntu/core/That said Fedora LXQT was the best impressive battery saving OS, and also minimal I might reuse for one purpose machines, but Xubuntu 18.04 core is pretty darn stable and impressive

For the 29 LXQT Spin:
-
You can automate login via /etc/sddm.conf
-
Anydesk is good software for remote sessions with Windows users
-
Remmina is amazing for RDP
-
FilleZilla can be download if you want to have WinSCP alternative it also supports key file access, but you need to provide it in PPK format which is putty format.
-
-
I can't stand LXQT, it belongs in the garbage IMHO... but Fedora is best for my desktop needs.
Cinnamon is excellent for desktop. I run on modern hardware, so only positives here, no negatives.
I also run Windows 10 in a VM for anything that has to be done there. Runs incredibly smooth. I can simply RDP from there if I need to.
-
@Obsolesce I am going to assume you are running Win10 in KVM on the Fedora laptop? Sounds like something I need to try.

It is not about LXQT or other things, it is about the best workstation platform. Regardless of the GUI.
So i thought we can list all the great apps that makes our like easier, and are supported in Fedora and makes it awesome.
Like Gigolo app if you liked WinSCP.. etc
Basically what do you do after fresh Fedora install and excluding dnf upgrade -y

You have four options: gif (default), apng, webm, mp4
-
You can change the default output format by going to preferences > Recording > Output format.

If you like 7zip, you will like Peazip.
Okular PDF
VMware Remote console, for folks that liked the old C# client
Flux
Atom IDEThanks for your suggestions I installed 2 of them, for snapshots and video capturing

What does PeaZip do to improve over 7zip?
