Unsolved Central File Sharing
-
I have been looking for multiple options for a customer that wants a centralized file storage for common documents but doesn't want to host a server in-house and doesn't want to use Sync Services for storage. My recommendation would have been Nextcloud or any other services as such.
Seems to me that the company only wants the files to be accessed as a mapped drive and they don't want to manage client configuration. I am still going to recommend Nextcloud but wanted to know your recommendations as well.

Use Nextcloud and map the drive with WebDAV

@jaredbusch How long has Windows supported this? I just did this with my NC, and it was easy.

I have used WebDAV with Office 365 Sharepoint as well so NC would be much better to deal with.

@momurda For a long time. Used it years ago

Windows 10 always has. Not sure when it was actually added, because I never used it prior to Windows 10.

What's the syntax for your command? I've tried what Nextcloud shows but no good.
https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/14/user_manual/files/access_webdav.html
net use Z: https://<drive_path>/remote.php/dav/files/USERNAME/ /user:youruser yourpassword

That's what I would do.

Since Windows 98.
