Multiple switches - connection

For connecting multiple switches (3 in this case), if your router has Gigabit LAN, is it best to to have a cord from 3 different ports on the router to each switch or to have the router go into 1 switch and then daisy chain the switches... or... does it really matter?

Does your router have a switch built in? I hate that.
If it does, then sure each switch can go to a different port. But you will be limited on switch to switch traffic by the back pane of a shitty router instead of the back pane of a quality switch.
What you want is to trunk multple ports together on each switch and put it all together in a LAG.

I hate to do that on a Sonicwall or most EdgeRouters when the server is one switch and then a computer on another, the whole traffic goes through the firewall and creates some slow downs at times.

Neither. Router to Switch at the hub, then spoke other switches.

Neither. Router to Switch at the hub, then spoke other switches.
Correct. that is what I said, in a slightly more technical way.
