What was your first PC?
-
I was 8 years old when my uncle worked for a company in london, he got me my first computer which had a 8086 processor, this machine is the one that got me interested in computers.
I remember this great huge brick having a big orange switch on the side. He also gave me loads of 5.25 inch floppy's. this is where I first learned how to use ms-dos, which was version 3.3 I believe, I got hooked on the gwbasic that was included with the O.S.
I then moved up to a 386sx/25mhz, wow! this one had 3.5" floopy drive.which had msdos 6.2 and windows 3.1, there were a considerable amount of disks just to install Dos. Back then I remember I had a thing about formatting and reinstalling dos and windows, and friends started to get me to reinstall theirs lol.
and after that I believe I had an olivetti 486dx2/66mhz with about 8mb of ram, I had ms-dos and windows 3.1 on this machine to begin with, until I got my first windows 95 CD wow, windows 95 was the bomb! and it even had some dodgy music video included lol.
and that was my history of my first computers.

I bought my first computer when I was 12 $300 for a Hitachi 8088 with two 5.25 floppy drives and an amber screen. I then spend $350 at Sam's club for a 30 MB HDD that my dad installed for me. Of course DOS (don't recall the version) which was upgraded to 6.5 or better before I retired it.
From there I built a few dozen PCs from spare parts that to this day I have no clue where my dad got them from. Everything from 286-486 over the next several years.
My uncle had a Commador 64 which I played with a bit, it had an audio cassette deck for storing data.
