Thinking about setting up FreePBX on Vultr for some family members. For right now my grandparents and parents. There both paying about $30/month for phone service. Anyone ever done this? Any thoughts? I'll use a analog voip gateway to connect all existing phones.
Why setup FreePBX? You can get a similar experience from VoIP.ms directly if you want. It is more limited, but if you do not need all the features of the full FreePBX instance, just go that route.
That said, I have FreePBX setup for the family.

What is the best app you guys use or will use for Android phones for FreePBX, thanks.
Zoiper is also on Android. That's what I had used in the past.
As I do not have any Android device to try it on I cannot validate that my user was not doing something wrong.
But I have had multiple users on Android try to use ZoIPer and have continual problems with connectivity.
I used zoiper at mangocon on Android 2 years ago for JB's presentation. it worked fine.

@aaronstuder I was going to do this for my parents but then decided to go the Grandstream HT701 direct to voip.ms. Parents have a flaky internet connection so they're forever rebooting the damn ISP router. It's such a pain in the ass I'm almost regretting it. Make sure their internet connection can support voip otherwise you'll kick yourself.

What are some advantages to using FreePBX and not going direct to a VoIP provider?
- SIP Provider Failover
- Free Extension to Extension Calling
- Maybe more Control? Voicemail, Call Forwarding, etc?

Extension to Extension is big for me. The whole family can call each other this way.
