We get news fast around here....

So the same issues with WSL on the desktop... it's useless. It sounds great on the surface, but when we actually look into it, it's just a lame container running Windows, not Linux, with the Ubuntu ecosystem layered on top. The tools can't interact with the Windows Server so aren't useful in that sense. And you can't use it as a service layer, so it isn't useful in that sense. It's meant for developers, but is pretty weird for them as well as they could just use Linux in a VM which would be better.

Sooo basically its still just Windows server but with a lossely added Ubuntu layer that cant do anything?
Id agree running a VM would make more sense at that point.

Yup. It's a bit of a joke. It makes Windows users feel like they are getting Linux even when there is no Linux there at all and nothing usefully to be done with it. It also doesn't perform up to par, not that you would expect it to. It's a really bad idea. Maybe it is a precursor to something useful, but I'm not holding my breath.
