It is funny, and their does need to be a law.
I just don't believe all these big companies have such big hearts that they there isnt some other reach around going on for some other agenda.
Meanwhile, why did the two closest Burger Kings disappear on me in the last 12 months? Now I gotta drive all the way to Springboro to get Whopper. They were also the fastest Burger Kings.

Because we've already given billions to the large ISPs, just to have them back out and keep the money. Of course, it's government, so nobody should be surprised by this.

There were programs at the federal and state levels. NYS offered a silly amount of money to ISPs to expand. They took the money and pocketed it. The AG is suing right now for failure to hold up their end of the bargain.
There was also the lifeline, I think that's what it was called, program to help rural and poor people pay for access to the internet. I think that could have been expanded... but it wasn't and instead has been cut back tremendously.

Else I would be in a different business still...
NYS is still offering this to rural ISPs. They can be part of a grant if they expand their coverage by a specific number of customers (I think... it may be based on milage) per year. The catch is that it had to meet the federal (FCC) definition of broadband. Which, until recently, could only be satisfied by wireless, fiber, or coax. So they couldn't put in any new DSL lines.

Electric services are more or less state run in most of the US. In all but name. But I agree with you, utilities should be provided and run by the state.

Electric services are more or less state run in most of the US. In all but name. But I agree with you, utilities should be provided and run by the state.
So many issues would be resovled (including Net Neutrality) if these utilities were all state run.
