Reading Rainbow for the new Generation

I'm glad that this show is coming back, & to see it get $1M in under a day. My daughter & my nephew won't live in a world without Reading rainbow, but you don't have to take my word for it.

I'm proud to have that have been a local show growing up. Produced in Rochester, NY. I never knew that show was national until I was old.
Great show. We were singing it at work a few weeks ago.

I am honestly not sure how I feel about this.
The RR app on iOS is nice and $60 a year is not a horrible price for unlimited access to all of the book they have in the app. My daughters like to use it occasionally, but more often we read from physical books at this point (6 and 4 years old). Still, it is good enough that I have had the subscription for over a year now.But the kickstarter is a whole different animal. RR is NOT a NFP organization now. They are a for profit company trying to make a buck and using the RR name. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. but the way things are presented really really try to blur that line into thinking it will all be roses and cheap and everyone can have stuff. That is NOT what is going to happen here. They only just added in the information about providing it free after blowing through the original million dollar goal.

I think that using kickstarter is pretty similar to having originally been on PBS. Pledges are pledges. I didn't even realize that there's an app. I'm going to check it out, because Reading Rainbow was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid.
