There are a lot of companies where the corporate backplane is still running at 1 Gbps.Well, most SMBs, if my thread is of any consequence, don't need more than 1 Gbps. But then he mentioned corporate, so perhaps he's trying to infer large businesses only?

The needs for speed is there even in a lot of SMBs. These days, saturating 10Gb/s isn't that hard. We use 10Gb/s at NTG for the corporate backplace which is often worth it when you have storage there.

These kinds of speeds would be great for implementing an iSCSI SAN or FCoE.
