      I've heard of it, and it's supposedly a really good product, the issue with it is the cost. At least at the time.

      The product now is JAMF Connect. So it looks to be a dead product that was replaced.

      Interesting. I'll look into that. I didn't see any mention of jamf.

      So I also realized that if you have even a small number of records, a dictionary will become super long. So you can compact the dictionary like this:

      records: ns1: {forward: 10.1.30.11, type: A, last: 11, rev: 30.1.10.in-addr.arpa.} ansible: {forward: 10.1.30.5, type: A, last: 5, rev: 30.1.10.in-addr.arpa.}

      So while the other way may be easier to read, this saves a TON of space.

      So as is with most things. I actually did set an address for Bind in named.conf. I just needed to add the ip address to listen on and add the zone for recursion and it's working now. Thanks!

      @scottalanmiller That's the whole reason I want DNS setup. I want to be able to SSH by hostname, not IP address, however I guess your right, maybe I just need to setup the host names on the jumpbox.

      that's all that I do. Maintain the /etc/hosts file and I never run into a need to use IP Addresses since I don't SSH from random box to random box.
