What is Your Favourite Movie?
-
@dominica and I are currently watching Blade Runner, my second favourite film. My all time favourite is, with no doubt, is 1994's Chung King Express by Wong Kar-Wai. You have to watch it a few times, probably while drinking heavily, to really appreciate it. I owned Chungking since its original LD release around 1995 - I rented it so many times the shop finally gave me the disc for about $5 as I was the only customer renting it. I own Blade Runner: The Director's Cut (1992) on LD as well.
So what movies do you enjoy?
-
My favorite movie of all time remains "The Princess Bride"
I enjoy watching Science Fiction and Fantasy movies in general. I will also watch a Wuxia at the drop of a hat. That interest stemmed off the Sci-Fi/Fantasy element a lot of the Wuxia movies have.

@JaredBusch Can't go wrong with a Tony Leung flick.
-
I'd probably have to say Blues Brothers. But it's a close call between that and Pirate Radio, American Graffiti, and Dazed and Confused. I love movies with a good sound track.
-
@jasonh American Graffiti definitely a classic. I have that on LD too.
-
The original Star Wars trilogy tops my list.

The original trilogy is definitely high on mine.

I always have a hard time picking this one. I have a list of around 10 that I keep as my top 10. That list includes (in no particular order):
The Shawshank Redemption
V for Vendetta
The Princess Bride
The Green Mile
Up
The Last Samurai
Forrest Gump
The Muppet Movie
The Great Muppet Caper
The Many Adventures of Winnie the PoohThe ones in bold are the ones for sure. The others I kind of thought of now but the others are definites and have been considered over time and many times.

@ajstringham No question, Shawshank is always very, very high for me. That is a seriously good film.

@dashrender There are two I couldn't think of. Both AMAZING movies! Always cry at the end of Mr. Holland's Opus. Finding Forrester was just...wow!!
-
@scottalanmiller Also, can't believe I forgot American History X. Just a flat out powerful movie. Kingdom of Heaven was amazing too!

It's weird... for me these two movies are way outside my wheelhouse, but for some reason they just speak to me.

One movie that I absolutely loved, and no one else seems to know, from the 1990s Laserdisc era is "Tune in Tomorrow." Some seriously weird stuff but a classic film. Good cast too.
-
I am a big fan of the classic John Woo films like "The Killer" in 1989 and "Hard Boiled" in 1992. Those are two that I never managed to own myself but was able to rent on Lasterdisc in the 1990s. Those were great movies. I feel like no one makes good stuff like that anymore.

The Big Lebowski. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the dude besides Jeff Bridges.
