Elio Fuel Efficient Cars

@scottalanmiller Interesting concept. To me, they look like enclosed motorcycles.
-
they look like....i'd never fit. 6'7". i'll keep my f150
-
@Hubtech You're 6'7"?! Wow, you may be one of the few people I know or have met taller than me...
-
I'm a big guy (more girth than height sadly) but surprisingly I fit in tiny cars better than most people. I drive a Chevy Spark today and it is huge for me. My RX7 is super comfy.
-
@scottalanmiller Might be the height factor - tall folks just don't fit in tiny cars.
-
@scottalanmiller As far as fitting in smaller cars, I'm very weird in that even though I'm 6'4" or very close to that I HATE driving with my legs extended. I put my seat at the same spot as someone a foot shorter than me. I rest my right knee against the dash as I can't drive with my knees in free space. So, I fit in my Kia Optima quite nicely even though I'm pretty sure no one else in the world is comfortable driving the same way I do as far as sitting.
-
@Katie Depends. It's odd because in the back seat I HAVE to have a lot of leg room. In the front seat I will intentionally move my seat up. I'm really weird...
-
@ajstringham How do I include a quote when replying? I wanted to include the part where A.J. says he is really weird and I wanted to agree.

i drove small stuff for years. VW golf (96 2.0) and Jetta(03 TDI) and then a 10 gmc terrain. Drove this f150 ecoboost super crew and decided he'll or high water I will always drive a truck. Couch on wheels.

Like this? It's the quotes next to the blue reply button on each post. If you don't see it, refresh the page.

Yup. Like that.
Exactly.

I like the Elio. Legally, under federal guidelines, it is a motorcycle. Unfortunately, most of the reason I got rid of my bike is because it didn't have much room to carry anything, and I like to carry on conversations with my wife when we're going somewhere. This doesn't solve either very well (it would be weird to talk to her in the back seat like that), so I can't justify it.
-
@art_of_shred wait, you are able to talk when you're in the same car as @minion-queen?! TEACH ME MASTER!!
-
@ajstringham Oh you are asking for it boy!! I am darn sure you talk more than I do!!

I've been following Elio for a while. It seems like a great idea, the problem is that, as previously stated, under Federal Laws, it operates as a motorcycle. States have different guidelines for motorcycles, helmet laws, etc. I know that I had read on one web site that they are trying to get them classified as cars. I think it's a pretty great idea and to be honest, you can't beat that kind of price for something that you can drive all year round.
But this is the one I would rather get
