The Big Lewbowski still has got to be my favorite movie.
“I’m the Dude, so that’s what you call me. That or, uh His Dudeness, or uh Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.” — The DudeNever even heard of it...LOL
That's one of the best known, most referenced movies of all time. I must hear someone reference it at least thrice a week.

It is the movie after which "The Dude" software is named.
-
There is a current series of commercials running from it, one of which ran during the super bowl! The movie is like twenty years old and people are still using it as fodder for memes, software names and commercials. The original cast still does stuff from it.

Here is one for AJ....

The Big Lebowski is a good example of what I've said for years, that the best movie era, of recent times, was the 1990s. The era after the weird, pop-powered 1980s but before the special effects-driven, poorly written, everyone gave up 2000s. The 1990s were low budget, quirky, all about the writing and acting movie era where the classic cinema quality came back like in the old days. It was a short, but magical time for movies.
Big Lebowski was 1998.

Shawshank and American History X were both 90s, so yeah, I can agree with that.

I love a lot of movies. I'm a pretty big cinemaphile. But the only standout, far and away top movie for me, ever, is Wong Kar-Wai's Chungking Express. This, more than any other, is the movie that makes me love cinema.
-
If you've never seen it, get it and a case of canned pineapple and watch it. Best. Movie. Ever.
-
Nightcrawler is also another good newer release.

Actually there are TWO coming out. One was announced a while ago with a female lead cast. But Sony just this morning announced a second new one with a male lead cast.

Top Movies
(Most Re-Watched)In no particular order, here are the top movies that I still re-watch even after many years. These include top rated and guilty pleasures. I am not including holiday movies, which will be applied to another list later on.
Pans Labyrinth (2016)— With my fascination with horror and fantasy, this movie would be at the top of the list of most re-watched. Even after just nine years, I still manage to get back to watching it. The dark subject matter and bitter sweet ending is a sign of the director Guillermo Del Toro, which makes it to my top list of favorite directors. The movie will never be dated to me because the it is so visually vivid and sticks with you forever.
Dirty Dancing (1987)- I don't know many women that does not re-watch this from time to time. Who can resist watching Patrick Swazye in his prime dancing with a Jennifer Grey. I think my love for dance movies started with this movie and I still manage to catch on TV every year. This year I finally purchased the movie and it definitely makes it to one of the most watched movies in my collection.
The Departed (2006)- Aw yes Martin Scorsese is one of my favorite directors and this is probably my favorite movie directed by him. Im sure people would love to put The Godfather series or Goodfellas, which are also amazing, but I have always loved The Departed. The cast is by far my favorite line up, even if it is all male.
Bridesmaids (2011)- One of the best women centric comedies I have ever seen. I love the raunchy humor and how it is not ashamed to make women less “lady like”. Some of the most memorable jokes and scenes come from this movie and I always re-watch it. I actually have it stored on my iPad for plane trips and those who have seen it know why.All Star Trek Movies (Originals and Reboots)- I was born a Trekkie and will die a Trekkie. I love all the films, yes including my personal favorite Star Trek IV. I know, the one with the whales. The top favorites are IV, VI, and First Contact. I think the Borg is somewhat responsible for my love of horror and zombies. My friends just recently went as far to through me a Live Long and Prosper party for my two year cancer free mark.
Star Wars (IV, V, VI)- This is kind of a give in. I love watching these over and over. Probably too many times to count. I have a poster of the Return of the Jedi on my wall, a stuffed R2D2, and a measuring cup set that builds into a R2D2. My text tone is, you guessed it, R2D2 and my husbands text tone is Leia saying “I love you” and Han saying “I know”. I was born loving Star Wars and Leia being one of my heroes. I wish I could pretend I, II, III don't exist, but that will probably never happen.
Secretary (2002)- This movie, there are no words. Absolutely one of my most favorite love stories of all time. It is weird, I know. It has a bitter sweetness to it, which given my tastes in movies, is kind of what I like.
Most Disney Movies- With very few exceptions, most Disney Classics are on my list of re-watchable. My favorites are, Cinderella, Brave, Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Frozen, so on and so on.
ET (1982)- A childhood favorite that I own and will re-watch until I am old and wrinkled. My kids will watch it and carry on the tradition.
Ghostbusters (1984)- Its BILL MURRAY and HAROLD RAMIS! I still find it hilarious and watch anytime I am feeling blue.
There are more, but these are the top ten.

Going to post this too. I already had these written anyway.
Top 10 Movies
20 Year Old Movies as Of 2015Today I caught myself watching 12 Monkeys on a movie channel. Its one of those movies that I still watch from time to time. It wasn't till I checked the date that I realized that this year is the 20th anniversary. So I decided to list some of the best movies of 1995 that still hold up today. These are in no particular order and spoilers may be included.
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar: Why does this movie still hold up? Well for one it is Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze in drag. Also this was the first movie I saw with John Leguizamo and he walks better than I do in heels. The story is also very endearing and it is still funny. I still manage to re-watch it once a year or every two years.
Clueless: I know many might disagree with this, but this movie is still re-watchable for me. Since I was a pre-teen in 1995, this movie is totally a nostalgia trip. It screams 90’s and this was before Brittany Murphy got sucked into the whole Hollywood machine. Watching it still makes me sad that she is gone.
Se7en: In all the ways I love thriller and horror, is why I still love this film. The setting is dark, dirty, and can make you feel very uncomfortable. The discovery of the head in the box is one of the most iconic scenes in thriller/horror movie history. Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Gwyneth Paltrow have great roles, but who really stole the show was Kevin Spacey as the killer. He only was in the last 20 minutes of the movie, but he is up there on favorite villain list. Is it weird that I fell in love with his acting in this movie? Maybe?
Braveheart: I will put this one in if not for no other reason that it did win the best picture award at the Oscars. To give it some credit however, this movie is very re-watchable. Mel Gibson didn't hit his crazy stage yet, so I am not too annoyed by him. It is one of the few movies that my husband asked to own and I can see why.
Toy Story: Do I really need to justify this choice?
Jumanji: The best part about this is that it still stands up today. Robin Williams was the best for the role of a child trapped in a grown mans body because well ITS ROBIN WILLIAMS! When he died there were two movies I watched, one was this one and the other was The Birdcage. The movie is still very clever and makes me laugh every time I watch it.
Casino: Who doesn’t like a Martin Scorsese mob film? I honestly have not seen one of his films that I didn't like or appreciate at least. Either way I still watch this when it comes on television, the same way I watch The Departed and Goodfellas when it comes on.
Mallrats: Kevin Smith will always have a place in my heart. Mallrats is funny, disgusting, and a cult favorite. Easily re-watchable even 20 years later.
12 Monkeys: I never get tired of Brad Pitt acting crazy and I just never get tired of Bruce Willis. A very disturbing movie, that is very off kilter. It is the kind of weird thriller that I even watch 20 years later.
Goldeneye: Pierce Brosman’s first movie as the legendary James Bond. I shamelessly admit that I love re-watching old Bond flicks, even if the feminist in me nags about Bond being a womanizer.
