UniFi Wi-Fi Has No Internet
-
I had something weird happen to a UniFi network I manage that upgraded to a new ISP. I set this network up initially and never had issues with the WiFi portion of this UniFi network.
They upgraded to a fiber ISP after being on Cellular for the longest time because it was the only thing offered in the area. They wanted to keep the Cellular as a backup, so we added the wired WAN (Fiber) to the Pepwave Modem/Router and made it priority. All of that is fine.
However, only our WIRED devices have Internet. I have two PC's there (one for IP cameras and one so I can remote into to troubleshoot issues). A few TV's are wired but every other PC, laptop, phone all rely on WiFi and there is NO internet and as a result, they get a 169 address.
On the UniFi network, the Wi-Fi network is connected to the network I named LAN and it points to the DHCP provided by the Pepwave Modem/Router:
The "Wireless" network uses LAN and the AP groups called Access Points which all pull a 50.1:
And here is a vew of all of the devices in the UniFi network...
What is interesting is the dependency on the AP called STORAGE ROOM.
(side note, ignore the BEACON Adoption FAILED for now...I am currently upgrading them to those but this issue has pulled me away from it).
I've done a lot of searching and I cannot for the life of me figure this out. The challenge...this is for or CEO and he is already upset (unfairly) at how long it has taken me on some projects for him personally (being the SOLO IT person for company too)...he is out of town until Monday afternoon but I only have remote access to his house until Monday morning. I can troubleshoot remotely...like I said, I have internet on the wired devices and he can see his port forwarded IP cameras but no internet for the Wi-Fi. Since he can see his cameras where he is now, he is happy and he doesn't know the internet to the Wi-Fi is down.
Any other suggestions?

@garak0410 Try going into each AP and disabling all un-needed features. We've had a lot of trouble in the past year with meshing getting turned on after a controller update. Causes the APs to attempt routing between each other instead of the wire they're plugged into. Creates a network loop that packets never escape from.

Giving this a try this evening...

All of them had MESHING enabled...I've turned it off on the AP's and waiting to see what happens...one of the PC's I have there also has a wireless adapter so I am able to test with that but so far, it connects to WiFi network but NO INTERNET.

As troubleshooting step, have you tried to put the wireless device on static as opposed to dhcp?

Like the AP's or Extenders or a device like a PC, phone, tablet?

You can see the APs in the controller software?
Do you have a VLAN on the SSID in question?
Other than the ISP - did anything else change? the firewall? some router between the APs and firewall?

Yes, the two access points show up as well as the extenders...it seems like the extenders are trying to get their connection from the STORAGE ROOM AP. Both CLOSET and STORAGE ROOM are currently plugged into the Primary Switch (as part of troubleshooting and last thing I could do before I left)
That STORAGE ROOM AP has options for VLAN management but it points to my primary network name which I called LAN:
I checked the SSID settings and no options for VLAN.
My NETWORK called LAN has a VLAN option but nothing is listed there...
Nothing changed at all...as described in the start of this thread, we are still using the modem from the previous provider as our router/gateway.
The modem is a bridge modem so it just passes the internet through to the Pepwave gateway. And as mentioned, Wired networks are fine.

UPDATE:
My AP's and extenders were set to static, like I did a year ago when I set up this place. I changed the AP called STORAGE ROOM to Dynamic and it pulled the IP of the WAN/Public IP. I moved it back to static to be safe. Any clue why it would do that? Could this be a setting in the gateway/router?

UPDATE...
I wanted to compare the settings between the site that is working and this site. Both sites use the Pepwave for the gateway. The only difference I've seen in the WAN settings is that this site with No Wi-Fi has LAN PASSTHROGH selected...
That's the only difference I've seen on the gateway end...

I unchecked this and have at least one AP a Dynamic and it is working...we have internet on the WiFI now.

Yep, that would do it all right. I guess someone might want that option at some point, but it would be an oddball thing to do.

You know, it is always that one setting that can drive us IT Pros mad. And I know I looked there like 100 times.

Routing all traffic through a single other device, so when the other device is not a router....

Thanks for the suggestions, help and talking it through...it is always something simple and overlooked.
