Ninja RMM antivirus integration issues. Is Ninja even production ready?
-
Ninja RMM offers the choice of Bitdefender, Webroot, or VIPRE (now legacy for them) as solutions you can purchase from them as a part of their monitoring package.
What I have found is that when you switch from Webroot to Bitdefender (in their RMM console) it's not a clean, easy process.
I have been working for 4 months now trying to clean up over 300 machines that didn't make the switch gracefully.
Many still have Webroot on them (even though the policy is set to Bitdefender). Webroot isn't accepting the command from Ninja to uninstall.
Many will install Bitdefender but Ninja thinks it's not installed so it keeps trying to install Bitdefender on the machines.
Each time I contact support they are asking ME to run scripts on the impacted machines to fix things. We are wasting so many tech hours troubleshooting Ninja that it's no longer become a tool that saves us time, it's become a time blob.
It seems as if their software is not production ready. Beta, or maybe even Alpha status.
@scottalanmiller and I have been working to move off of Ninja, but that's another conversation.
Nothing for anyone here to really 'solve', but looking to see if others are having the same issues.
Does anyone here use Ninja? If so, what's been your experience?

Isn't NinjaRMM a platform for automating that stuff? Even if you run it yourself, wouldn't it be something inside of NinjaRMM to run? Something that, if you can run, they could automate?

Yeah you would think so. In fact one would think that since they have more access than an end user that it may even be a more simple task.

And they've been unable to offer any kind of viable backup system. Again, another conversation, but I asked about this at Spiceworld and their follow up was basically "we have no idea what our customers need in general but this one customer needs something unlike anyone else and we are only going to look at their needs" and totally ignoring the needs of the MSP or SMB market, which is really the only one that needs RMM on any scale, especially an RMM like this that does so little.
I swear, simply "not installing it" would make no difference, it seems to add nothing of value other than an inventory list, but that's manually maintained anyway, so we could just make wiki entries for a fraction of the effort.

It does have useful alerts, but nothing that can't be accomplished with open source software.
