What is your concern?
I know nothing of Doha.
Doha Qatar: Security, and the unknown.
-
The owner and CIO here often travel to India to our other office. When they do, they take burner phones and laptops. We've had 2 laptops stolen at different times while they were there.
-
@popester I wouldn't be overly concerned about it, the business has made the decision that these employees need to travel with work equipment.
So long as the company is aware of it, if anything happens just purchase another ipad or two.

Yeah, I'm kinda thinking this.
If you're worried that the stolen equipment will be used to breach your network - then write up a proposal that solves that while still allowing them remote access.

Totally safe and secure country. Phones wont work there, it's a complete authoritarian regime. Think China but rich and zero crime (but absolutely corruption.) There is zero risk of a laptop being stolen, but a real risk of human trafficking. It's a hot spot of state sponsored trafficking, famous for uses slaves to build their sports arenas.

India is kind of the polar opposite. Poor instead of rich, huge instead of small, full of crime instead of safe, free instead of authoritarian.

Pretty much this.

I believe VPNs are illegal, just be aware.

IIRC so are certain types of encryption.

So that would mean iMessage can't be used since its always encrypted.

What messenger isnt encrypted anymore is the better question. Even Facebook messages have been encrypted for a long time.
-
I would assume server side encryption probably ok, but end to end encryption is not...

again, what messaging isn't end to end these days?
SMS of course. -

You can't use any tech with real time voice. It's not about security, it's that it is illegal to bypass their phone carrier for voice traffic.

Maybe outside the USA.but around here, I don’t buy it.

Meaning... it's not a current tech. It's an intentional use of a non-current tech. Like using cursive.

Not everyone can afford to keep up.
It’s the lowest common denominator approach.
