How can I prevent student logins to Google from overriding the Library's public PC restrictions?

@DustinB3403 Yes I used something like reboot/restore Rx or drive Vaccine in the past. I had to quit that because about half of our public computers are older with 80 GB hard drives. When you make changes and save that as the new default it keeps adding to a hidden file until the computer slows to a crawl.
I am gradually getting rid of those machines but still have about 30 or so to go. Perhaps after that I can try that. I keep all my images the same for now but I could change that. -

How about something like UrBackup, where you / an trusted on-site employee can have the system be restored automatically?
Are there any resources to run a small server for UrBackup and to take images of the workstations?

@coliver I have the setting to remove browsing history but apparently that setting is overridden also.

You'll want to disable that via the Google Chrome group policies. Make sure you're pushing these policies from the Computer settings piece.

@DustinB3403 I just glanced at that. It sounds good so far but "on site trusted and capable employee" is a rare asset around my 8 libraries. I will check into to this. I had a fog server setup last year for a while but ran into a few problems before I actually put it into production.

@DustinB3403 I do use the computer configuration and not the user configuration for my local group policy chrome template.

@LJ Fog is a full imaging process, which is great for what it is, UrBackup may work better for you in the long run, agent and server.
The system(s) restore to whatever settings there were at the time they're told to restore.

@coliver I have the policies locally on every machine. Once I get one setup well I clone it. We don't have the budget or the bandwidth for Domain servers, CALS etc.

@LJ is in charge of the library computers, not the google accounts that the students are using.

@LJ is in charge of the library computers, not the google accounts that the students are using.

@DustinB3403 I am talking about windows. these are all Windows Pro standalone machines with local group policy on each machine.We don't have Active Directory and CALS for these.

There are programs that will do that, basically like SteadyState used to do. DeepFreeze might still be around.
Most places use virtualization (even on the end points) to handle this today.

I think VDI has taken over for a lot of that, too. VDI wouldn't matter here, it's an option, but just one of several. But I think that you'll find that it is a common mechanism to use for the rollback these days.
