When I did an upgrade from 8.1 core to 10 on my desktop, it slowed everything down so much. I had all the requirements, thus a bad experience and why I'm running Fedora now. My laptop which came with it seems ok. Has anyone else ran into performance upgrade issues?

Prior to 10, upgrades were horrid.
When doing the upgrade from anything before 10, complete the upgrade to get the digital license of the hardware.
Then do a clean reinstall

Jared is correct, traditionally on Windows you can't do a reliable upgrade between versions. That's always been something that they couldn't handle. You always do fresh installs to keep things working.
With Windows 10, the upgrades themselves are a mammoth problem and fail, it seems, the majority of the time (actually appears over 50% for us at least in the field) and requires a secondary upgrade process. But the resulting system is generally not crippled from having been upgraded rather than being a fresh install. So at least they appear to have fixed something in their processes.

I would agree with Jared and Scott when it comes from a Windows 10 to Windows 10 newer version upgrade... not so much when coming from Windows 7, 8, 8.1. Personally I'd still wipe and reload after an upgrade from any of those OSes... who know what old crap was still around from those installs.
But like JB and Scott - Win 10 to Win 10 - generally OK once you get it there.

Interesting! I just wonder if it is possible for example to copy or move a complete installation of Windows to another disk just copying the files, is that possible? I mean like copy for example the whole C:\Windows folder to another folder on another disk D:\Windows and try to boot the Operative system? Well I don't know if my question is a bit dumb, sorry if it is.

No, you can't just copy the files. You have to image the system.
