At least on 1 system we have here OSX Mojave is using a ton of disk space for "System" files. Close to 200GB of space.

I've checked Time Machine (which has never been enabled) with:

       sudo tmutil listlocalsnapshots /
       #results:

      If there were any results

      sudo tmutil deletelocalsnapshots snapshot-name

      Would clear up that issue.

Here is a df -h from the users workstation over ssh

I can't find where all of this space is being consumed. Anyone have any ideas short of throwing the laptop out of a window and not looking back?

Reindexing Spotlight hasn't worked either. I've already checked that option off and there is no change.

Other people who have reported similar issues, albeit on older OSX, have suggested third party software to try and find the culprit. That seems unnecessary as this shouldn't be so difficult, nor should it ever occur.

...because everything apple does is perfect and never, ever malfunctions in any way, right?

Yeah. . . no I get the stance. What makes no sense is there is no way for me to find where this bulk is coming from.
