Google Family Link: Control Chromebook
-
For those parents with children under 13 - and with Chromebooks
Do you use the Family Link Option to control the account and device? The TWINS got Chromebooks for Christmas from the grand parents - and wanted to make sure that the Eight year olds don't end up getting into something they don't need to be watching Youtube videos.
I've Set up Family Link and it's all working. Just looking to see what other options for managing content and all could be used..

With Google Family Link, YouTube is not available. So you will need to install YouTube Kids and choose Younger or Older content settings. And then you can also turn on/off search too.

YouTube Kids younger has some really bad stuff too, and some really weird things. I've found it best to avoid YouTube altogether, and use Netflix kids account instead.

They likely won't use Youtube or Youtube Kids... They already watch that on iPads and a laptop.. so they truely don't need yet another device to YT on ..
They also don't need Netflix - again.. on other devices and we want to be able to control some of what they get to.

Besides controlling what they can download from Google Play store, I would just worry about blocking websites. Either stick with blocking mature sites or only allow certain sites.
