New Publisher on GOG Today: LucasArts

GOG finally signed LucasArts and their game library is now available there. Fingers crossed that they will find a way to get more of the titles than Steam has managed to get. So many great titles not available on Steam that we have been waiting for. Like Monkey Island 3 & 4. Or the Maniac Mansion series.

Initial, day one list is pretty weak:
- Secret of Monkey Island (MI 1)
- Star Wars: X-Wing
- Star Wars: Tie Fighter
- KOTOR
- Sam & Max Hit the Road
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Nowhere near as much as is already on Steam. But it is a start.

I'm hoping that a large string of their yet unreleased games come out. GOG has been really good at convincing other publishers to let them bring out the games that have otherwise disappeared. They pretty much got the entire Sierra archives, LucasArts is the next logical player. That LA holds those back is crazy. Just throwing away revenue since no one has any way to buy those classics today.

I'll pick up KOTOR at some point, although it's super-easy to get that game via...other means. That and Civ IV. Lol

I really think you can get it for $5 or less. No reason to pirate any game let alone the game that made the DA series possible

I really think you can get it for $5 or less. No reason to pirate any game let alone the game that made the DA series possible
I won't be buying it or torrenting it soon. Too poor to buy, not enough interest to play it again to torrent it. I prefer to buy my games anyways.

I won't be buying it or torrenting it soon. Too poor to buy, not enough interest to play it again to torrent it. I prefer to buy my games anyways.
Maybe its better to buy a $5-10 game that you haven't played rather than paying $60 for the new DA. You will still get the same if not more hours of enjoyment out of KOTOR

I'm sure not paying $60 for DA3. I don't pay anything like that for any game. I just add new games to my wishlists on Steam and GOG when they come out and watch for a good sale. Something like DA3 I'll buy as soon as the "ultimate edition" is available and hits a 75% off sale. Once you wait on your games once, they are all cheap after that. Not I get an unlimited stream of new to me games, just a year behind the "cool kids" who blow all of their money, and spend nearly nothing to do it.
I'm pushing 150 games between Steam and GOG. Plenty to keep me busy in amazing titles and I've spend SO little.

That's smart. You still get a steady flow of games, they are games that have just been out for a little while. There is no reason you have to play them at release.

Exactly. And there are so many games out there, it isn't like you will ever run out and not have something to play. You make the sacrifice one time and from then on you get games just as quickly as people who buy everything as it releases. But you get more DLC, more bug fixes, better walkthroughs, etc. And unless you are an old timer like me and have lived through the entire video game era, you can always just "start" with games from two years ago and never have to experience the lag.
And there are so many huge, awesome games it can keep you busy for forever. Balder's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Fallout, KOTOR, etc. The list just goes on and on.
And if you have old consoles, the list grows too. I bought a PS2 after the PS3 was out for a year. Cost me almost nothing and for like $200 I bought the entire catalogue of games I could possibly want to play on that system. I was stocked.

KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2. I own both
I played through all but the last level of KOTOR 2. Never actually beat it. I couldn't put KOTOR down. Played it for the first time on an Xbox I borrowed from a friend, and pissed off my parents in the process as my life disappeared for the duration of the game. LOL

I rarely buy games until they've been out two or three years. Not deliberately, it's just how it works out. However, with watchlists on Steam, I've taken advantage of those a couple times. I don't know if DA3 will be on Steam though. Last I knew, they were releasing it on Origin primarily. It may be awhile before it hits Steam.
