I started to think that as well, but on the other hand, I started to think, there are so many small businesses out there, they have to be using something. Where there is a demand, there is usually a market.

That is actually how @Bundy-Associates was formed in its current incarnation back in 1988.
The owner wrote an accounting application for the System 36 systems using RPG. It was designed around the specific needs of manufacturers, and he sold a bunch of systems across the midwest all to various types of manufacturers.
It was updated to a SQL Server based .Net desktop application in the 00's a little at a time and finally went live at the last known client to be using the original System 36 system.
Without taking on debt or a new client for further development, it is just kind of sitting there with minor changes that the single client wants.

I would like to find the funds to get it redeveloped as a full web based application, but that will take cash flow that the company does not have without some clients covering some of that development as part of a purchase.

@jaredbusch So roll this thing as a SAS and the cash flow is improved from they way software was sold and released the way it was 15 years ago.

Except development is expensive. Probably a year, at least, for 2 devs.

So, 6 months for one dev?

As you can see with Sodium Suite. Unless you have funds to dedicate a dev, things do not happen.

Have you looked at Zoho's packages to see if they would fit your bill? I know they have a inventory management application as par of their finance package but have never used it. I'm just now looking at their CRM and Desk applications for one of our divisions here.

I have a couple clients that use Xero for the accounting piece and then chose an add-on for each piece that they needed. They were able to design what they needed without all the stuff they didn't. Take a look at the Xero market Place for the Apps, might be something there for them. https://www.xero.com/us/marketplace/s/app-functions

That can't be a challenge. Those are well known, especially odoo, get anyone you want to support them.
