Yeah, this is nearly everyone affected. Thank goodness for AMD and ARM.
AMD isn’t much better. They have PSP which is just as dangerous.
Time to move everything to ARM.
This is ARM's time to make a bold move to capture a good part of the x86 server market.
No bold move needed, just need people to start selling ARM desktops!!
I was thinking more bold business moves. There are things they could do that would really help make that happen. It would take their leadership to act boldly and take risk.

The ARM powered Chromebooks will take over... well, if I have my way anyway.

For sure. We need slightly higher powered hardware that is similar for Linux desktops, too.

Isnt this 10s of millions of computers affected? I think just about every single pc and server on my network is on this list:
6th, 7th and 8th Generation Intel Core processors Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 and v6 processors Intel Xeon Scalable processors Intel Xeon W processors Intel Atom C3000 processors Apollo Lake Intel Atom E3900 series Apollo Lake Intel Pentiums Celeron N and J series processors
huh, I think that means less than half my machines are on that list.

Yeah, for some reason, I don't think we need those 64 core CPUs for a desktop!

It's octocore, 8GB machines.

@scottalanmiller There are ARM servers that can do 240Gbps of network throughput for NFV. Don't think the mobile stuff is all that exists....

ARM also attacking HPC.

HPC is an awesome use for ARM. A big thing is getting the software companies to catch up.

Right, like I keep saying, just need people to build desktops, don't need anything from ARM.

Here is a program Intel put together to tell you if you are vulnerable to this and several other security flaws they have found.

But be warned, it's written by a company known to not understand security or be concerned about its customers. So...
