So upon me completing my entire lesson consisting of 66 skills, I shouldn't expect to get past ~60%, even though after completing 16 skills I'm sitting at 40% with all 16 of them being gold?

You shouldn't expect to get anywhere close because you are not doing Spanish, French or German, the languages with the highest fluency potential on DuoLingo.

This is a constant complaint in DL forums. The fluency seems to be capricious, it goes up and down (I lose a percentage almost every day and work all day to earn it back), isn't reflected in anything obvious that you do, other than normally it goes up as you continue to work hard. But at some point, say if you do four lessons every day, it will start decreasing rather than increasing even if you do it every day without fail.

I hit 40% last night, and it's still there.
I don't think it should be, because I forget some of the stuff I learned (due to lack of speaking it IRL). If it went down after learning new lessons, as it should, it will help me to retain what I learn by having me practice it.
But once it is engraved in my brain and unforgettable, (like with the beginning lessons), it should rarely need strengthening which seems to be working fine.... at least for the language I'm doing.

@scottalanmiller Are you liking Mango Languages? My library offers it as well.

Yes, a lot. It's very good at actually teaching the language.
-
@scottalanmiller yeah i was testing out a lesson last night. There is a clear distinction between mango and duo. I like both, but different approaches for sure.

That's why I do both. One is drilling, one is teaching.

How is this an alternative?

Looks like my library has Mango too!

A lot do, it's a great service for them to offer.

Any recommendations on audio learning for languages? I have used Pimsleur in the past for when I have long drives.

I’ve re-earned 61% three times today.
