Getting Your SO Into Video Gaming
-
Since @Dashrender and @scottalanmiller were discussing this in the YouTube TV thread, and I didn't want to hijack that...
How have you tried to get your SO into video gaming? Some games or activities are obviously more likely to be effective than others. What have you tried, what has worked, who video games with their SO, etc.?

We like playing adventure games together, like point and click adventures where we can watch the story together and participate in solving puzzles.
Or RPGs where one of us watches the other one play.
-
New Mario game (Wii) is a fun one for everyone. Rockband/guitar hero/etc are good too.

No luck at all here

My lady enjoys any type of fighting game, so I got the latest Mortal Combat. But my gf is awesome, so if I want to play games, she'll gladly watch while she dicks around on her phone.
N.B. my SO might be more awesome than yours, so don't try this at home.

We haven't really gotten into any new games around here at all in years. But we do play AOE 2 But we tend to be a more old school and like board games more around here.

My wife likes hidden object games but mostly on her own.

I hope you realize how dirty that sounds...

My lady and I enjoyed Xbox Kinect games.

We also like puzzle games, like Highrise Heroes.

That's a more interesting approach.

For the whole family, we discovered an interesting thing to do. We give everyone laser pointers and use a project screen and do hidden object games. Everyone gets into it seeing how quickly they can find everything. It's a blast.

I don't get it... you "draw" objects on teh screen with a laser pointer and you have to guess what is being drawn?

No, traditional hidden object games. People point to the objects with the pointers. Then the person with the controller selects them. It allows a group to play what are traditionally single play hidden object games.
