iPhone6 Will Not Sync Exchange E-Mails
-
I moved our President over to an iPhone6 today. Everything went well except for his Exchange account. It connected initially, but then he wanted to see NO LIMIT on his inbox/folders and then it stopped receiving and just kept showing either DOWNLOADING/CHECKING FOR MAIL. After 1o minutes, nothing...
So moved it back to 3 Days from NO LIMIT. Nothing...
So removed and re-added account...now, it is totally empty...
Of importance, he has 12,100+ emails alone in his inbox...
Did it get "stuck" on the sync which may result in showing no emails? Since this is Exchange Online, I went into his Mobile Device Details and deleted both his old and new iPhone in hopes that could help.
He is also county judge, so he isn't here right now...I set up the OWA app for him as a workaround but that isn't a very good option. Hoping to find a solution by lunch...

I have not seen that happen but if he set to unlimited with that many email messages it would be expected to freeze up for a very, very long time. That is probably more emails than there is holding capacity on the phone itself.

You could always reset the phone itself, I guess.

Eh? You say this assuming the 12K+ emails take more than 16 gigs (or whatever is leftover after the OS install?)

After a third reboot, he called to say emails are flowing...going to monitor it for a bit longer...

Right. It doesn't necessarily, but people typically have fewer than 8GB available from 16GB and very often much less than that. 12K emails could be a few hundred MB or it could be extremely large. But pretty large is a fair guess.

I don't think it downloads attachments by default so it shouldn't be too large for a phone unless someone downloads a ton of apps/music/pictures.

You cannot have everything synced on your phone.with a mailbox that big.
have you rebooted the device? There is probably haut something locked up after trying to sync too many messages.

Apparently, I took to long to hit submit

Sounds like the sync mechanism just got hung up from the volume temporarily.

Another weird issue...I've used my work PC to assist in iPhone 6 backups and restores...never had a problem like this...the President's phone is signed in with his personal iTunes and iCloud account...but it is promoting him to log in with the email last user I upgraded...this users account is nowhere to be seen on the phone under accounts...suggestions?

It was the Weather Channel apps...it synced over the previous users WC app for some reason...removed/reinstalled...fixed.

That explains it
