Random Thread - Anything Goes

What gets me the most is the really dumb ones, such as what Scott pointed out the other day when they get to some kind of weird mental block that doesn't make sense, such as "Can I through water in the air and make it stay there?" sort of things. What else gets me is the same questions being asked over and over again, such as "What is the best antivirus out there?" I don't know. Try them all. Whichever works best for you is the one you should use.

How many VMs do I get to have with Hyper-V?

Had a random thought this morning while making a cuppa for the wife before I left for work......
I a world of "self drive" cars will we need a driver's license? What's to stop the kids jumping in and telling the car they want to go to the zoo

It's been an assumption that it will be the same as a taxi. No license needed for a taxi. As there is no driver, no drivers license.
-
Image two kids in a car. Which one would you ticket? You can't ticket both.

Would that still apply if you are the owner of the car?

Hm. I could see them eventually having to live up to a certain set of standards--a license of sorts

How I feel this week... only I haven't quit drinking coffee.

They already do.

Of course, you don't need a license to own a car now. Or to own a taxi. It's being the driver you need a license for. Always has been. A five year old with money can buy as many cars as he wants.

Wouldn't you consider that to be a license? Isn't that the point of needing to get one? Other than revenue for the state
-
I think the core question here is, if a self driving car violates a human traffic law, who is in trouble? The car or the human/owner of the car? Ticket the car and you now have active Civil Asset Forfeiture. Ticket the human, but you can't because they did not actually cause the violation.

But it is the car that has to be legal to be on the road, not the owner. There is no reason to be weird here. Licensing someone to OWN a car? How weird is that. Makes no sense and has no purpose. The owner can't influence how the car operates, what would the license be for and what purpose would it serve?

We already have laws that cover that. The driver. Who is the driver of a self driving car? Hint: not a person.

Exactly. What if the car had no occupants and was driving itself to its owner's location?

If the car hits someone its forced to be a bit coin miner for x amount of time, revenue going to the state
